This painting course will teach you how to utilize watercolor, oil, acrylic to produce interesting paintings on the exterior of a house. Acrylic paints are often created with high-quality materials that give them a thick and sticky consistency. Acrylic colors dry as a result of water evaporation which is transformed into a long-lasting paint. It can expand and compress in response to temperature changes. It is ideal for exterior painting projects.

Oil-based paints are less utilized due to rigorous health regulations as they create dangerous fumes when wet. They are safer to use outside, where there is enough ventilation, than indoors. Though it’s made of oil, it's difficult to clean easily.

Because latex paints are water-based, they are simpler to apply and clean up than other exterior paint kinds. Latex paint dries rapidly as well. It expands in hot weather and shrinks in cold weather.

The finish of exterior paint influences how it appears when it is dry. There are three types of painting finishes for better painting trim: flat or matte finish, satin finish, semi-gloss and glossy finish. Let’s get to know some about them.

Having a solid and non-reflective finish, it is ideal for older houses hiding the imperfections. Suitable to use it to paint exterior sidings.

Satin finish works especially well on well-maintained wood or cement siding for it’s medium finish. That means it is not too dull but not too shiny.

Glossy finish paints are more durable and simple to clean than satin and flat finish paints. It is suitable to use outdoors though it is sturdy and relatively water-resistant.
